Hello world!

Last week during half term saw the learning team, with much help from families, plant crocuses in the shape of our future development plans on the west wing. The plan was to use the flowers as natural outline for where the rebuilding work will take place. Many thanks to all those that attended and helped and be sure to keep your eyes open for 4,000 flowers popping up in the park come February!

We were very happy to welcome Propps Hall Primary school last month who participated in an ‘Exploring Drawing’ workshop, where the children drew their own interpretations of the art on display in ‘Intuition – outsider art’. The resulting drawings were then scanned and fitted onto digital templates of the gallery. The outcomes are very interesting and we’ll think you’ll agree that having wonderful, creative drawings like these alongside our Turner collection is quite captivating indeed.

This Friday see’s Medlock Primary School ‘Take Over’ Whitworth Art Gallery with aplomb. The children will be taking a tour of the building to the public from 11.30am, whilst manning the front of house desk and working with the visitor services team. Be sure to follow us on twitter on Friday as the children will be keeping you updated throughout the day.
