The Art Project is a celebration of local school’s collaborating with one another using art as a medium. Each class start’s with a set of layered drawings that are then passed onto the next school who add their own unique layer. Each class had decided on their style and the work ends up as a 3-D outcome ready to display in the gallery.
The project was formulated by Julie Howes (Green End Primary). Julie, along with Whitworth Art Gallery and our Creative Practitioner Mat Cahill, is responsible for running certain CPD sessions with local teachers looking at ways in which art and design can help teachers tap into other areas of their teaching.
The displays were nothing short of fantastic and really added to the already existing exhibition programme here at Whitworth Art Gallery.
Many thanks to all the primary schools involved – Barlow Hall, Birchfields, Oswald Road, Crab Lane and Lancasterian and special thanks to Julie Howes, Mat Cahill, Stephen Nuttall and the gallery staff who helped make it such a special event.
We hope you enjoy the images!
