Year 7s from Wright Robinson College have been collaborating with the Whitworth as part of an extra-curricular project. The group has been working with three practitioners to explore the themes of identity and place. We looked sites of major events with Jane and Louise’s images of Chernobyl and responded to their works with movement.
Time spent looking at Hockney and Hogarth’s print series allowed us to discuss the topic of moral and social dillemmas and we compared the two artists’ styles of mark making. Students singled out people, shapes or details which they found particularly interesting and used these to create their own fantastical stories in the style of A Rake’s Progress.
