Siobhan Davies Dance – Partnership Workshop

Learning teams and our practitioners across the Manchester Partnership were given a real treat this last Monday as we welcomed Marie Forbes, Siobhan Davies Dance Company, to deliver a site specific movement session using our Richard Long exhibition as a catalyst for ‘the journey’. Focusing on ‘inside-outside’ learning, Marie tasked us to find both natural and unnatural materials from our Park that linked to words such as ‘grainy, spiky, rough, smooth and sharp’ to then use these objects to map out a movement routine for others to follow. A range of team activities and group work mixed in with elements of sketching and mark making – this fantastically paced professional development session gave all participants ideas relating to their specialist areas whilst giving us a taster of things to come when once again, we invite Marie back to engage with some of our local Primary School teachers for their tailored continuous professional development day ‘Extend it’ – 6th June. If your school is interested in this opportunity, please contact amy.jones-2@manchester.ac.uk to book a place or contact steven.roper@manchester.ac.uk for more details.
